Smuggle Foreign Currency: Two held at Chennai airport for smuggling 1.11 crore in foreign currency | Chennai News


Chennai: Customs sleuths at Chennai airport thwarted an attempt by two people to smuggle foreign currency worth 1.11 crore to Bangkok.Sleuths stopped the two passengers when they were about to board a flight on Saturday. Their checked-in baggage was unloaded and US dollars and Saudi Riyals valued at 1.11cr were found concealed in their bags. The passengers were detained and their phones seized to extract digital evidence, if any, to ascertain whom they bought the foreign currency from and the digital trail of transaction. Both have been remanded to Puzhal jail. tnn
