Motihari/Patna: The investigation agencies are yet to find out the exact purpose of visit of the four Chinese nationals, who were arrested by Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) for entering India through Raxaul from Nepal without valid visas on Wednesday. It, however, came out during interrogation that they were supposed to go to back to Hathaura and Lumbini in Nepal, according to official sources. These Chinese nationals, identified through their passports as Den Wijong, Lei Yonghai, He Kuangsheng and Huang Limin, all residents of Hunan City, were apprehended by the SSB on Maitri Bridge in Raxaul on Wednesday evening, and following their arrest under several sections of the Foreigners Act, were sent to judicial custody on Thursday. A Nepali woman, who was acting as a guide for the Chinese nationals, was also interrogated, before eventually being released by the SSB. During questioning, it was discovered that the woman, identified as Anita Kumari, was multilingual, being proficient in Hindi, Nepali, English and Chinese. The woman told the investigation agencies, including NIA, IB and SSB, that she was a guide in Nepal. After detailed questioning, identity verification and checking her phone, the security forces determined that the woman was only working as a guide and subsequently released her.According to the official sources, it also came out during their interrogation that the four Chinese nationals were staying at the home of the Nepali woman in Kathmandu. They had come to Birganj from Kathmandu before entering Raxaul when they were caught during an inspection.Raxaul subdivisional police officer (SDPO) Dhirendra Kumar said all of them were entering India from Nepal on foot. “During inspection of Maitri Bridge, the SSB became suspicious of their movements. On questioning, they were neither able to speak in Nepali nor Hindi, instead they were responding in Chinese. Upon checking their passports and visas, it was found that they did not have permission to enter India, following which all four Chinese nationals were arrested and handed over to Haraiya police. The police also seized 8,000 Chinese Yuan in currency notes and their passports.””Many national investigation agencies, including NIA, IB and SSB, interrogated the Chinese, but it was difficult to elicit much response as there was a language problem. The four kept on responding in Chinese. The purpose of their visit has not been revealed so far, and further investigation is ongoing,” said the Raxaul SDPO.
