A Chinese influencer named Gu Xixi is making headlines after sharing that she earned a massive 3.03 lakh yuan (approximately Rs 35 Lakh) in just one day by lying in bed. Through her Douyin shop, between February 8 and 16, Xixi made a total of 1.039 crore yuan (approximately Rs 12 Crore) on one platform, with a commission of around 27.9 lakh yuan (approximately Rs 3 Crore). On another platform, her sales reached 89.4 lakh yuan within a week. Reportedly, during a recent live stream, Xixi called this “hard-earned” money and claimed that the more people criticise her, the more money she makes.
As per South China Morning Post, she made it clear that she does not just want to earn a few hundred thousand yuan in a month. Instead, her goal is to make that amount every single day. She said, “Today, I spent the entire day lying in bed, did nothing and still made 11.6 lakh yuan in sales on my Douyin shop, with an estimated commission of 3.03 lakh yuan. The more you cannot stand seeing me doing well and the more you criticise me, the more I make. It is not about earning hundreds of thousands of yuan per month, it is about earning hundreds of thousands of yuan per day. Understand?”
Gu Xixi explained, “Do you know why I do not frequently share my sales performance now? Every time I do, there is a problem, right? It causes trouble, right? This time, it makes the headlines, right? That is why influencers like to act like they are poor. We did not steal, we did not rob. All the money we make is hard-earned. When I said I did nothing all day, it was meant to provoke people. Do you think I can do nothing all day? I said it just to irritate those haters.”
The influencer, born in 1998 in Nantong, Jiangsu province, has gained attention many times. In the past, her account was suspended on several occasions after she shared inappropriate content. In one of her live streams, she mentioned that she had spent two and a half years in prison for her involvement in a fight when she was 15.
