Counterfeit currency has been found in the Door County community.
The Door County Sheriff’s Office announced yesterday (October 9th) that they have received reports of motion picture prop money being used within the county.
Along with the announcement were warnings about counterfeit cash.
They warned citizens to be extra cautious when handling cash, most notably large bills.
Signs to look for to identify counterfeit bills include abnormal textures, off-center images, or missing security features such as color-shifting ink and watermarks.
If you believe you have received counterfeit money, authorities urge you not to use it but instead report it by calling the Door County Sheriff’s Office at 920-746-2400.
