Staff changes at Baton Rouge General, FMOLHS, Currency Bank | Business


Baton Rouge

Dr. Michael T. Weaver has joined Baton Rouge General Heart and Vascular Surgery.

Weaver has more than 30 years of experience. He specializes in heart valve and heart bypass surgery and treating coronary artery disease and thoracic cancer.

Weaver serves as an adjunct assistant professor of clinical surgery at Tulane University School of Medicine.

He earned his medical degree from LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans. Weaver completed a residency at LSU and a fellowship in cardiopulmonary surgery at Oregon Health & Science University.

Ryan Cross has been named vice president of government affairs and advocacy for Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System.

Cross joined the health system in 2017 as director of communications for Our Lady of the Lake Health.

He will be responsible for monitoring and crafting state and federal policy in Louisiana and Mississippi and will oversee the health system’s public policy and advocacy efforts in each state.

Scott Gaudin has been named president and CEO of Currency Bank.

He succeeds Charles Chiasson, who will assume the role of president emeritus, as well as remaining a member of its board of directors.

Gaudin and Chiasson were two of the founders of Currency Bank in 2021.

Gaudin previously served as chief lending officer and executive vice president. Before that, he held numerous senior management positions at publicly traded financial institutions.

He earned a bachelor’s in business administration and management from LSU’s E.J. Ourso College of Business.

Kristin Jewell has been named manager of marketing, public relations and air service development for Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport.

Jewell started her career with the city-parish at East Baton Rouge Parish Emergency Medical Services in 2016. In March 2021, she transitioned to airport administration.

She earned a bachelor’s in industrial-organizational psychology with a minor in business administration from Northwestern State University. Jewell is also a licensed emergency medical technician.

Georges Media Group, publisher of The Times-Picayune | NOLA.com, The Advocate, The Acadiana Advocate, The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate, Arthur Hardy’s Mardi Gras Guide, Adore and Gambit, has added two executives.

Brad Robertson is the executive vice president of sales and marketing. Robertson was previously chief marketing officer for N1 Health, senior vice president of eCommerce and marketplaces for New Vitality, senior vice president of digital marketing services at MyWebGrocer and founder of GannettLocal (later G/O Digital).

Jim Broyles has been named senior vice president of sales. Broyles has over two decades of experience working for publications such as The Colorado Springs Gazette, The Montgomery (Alabama) Advertiser, The News-Star Media Group in Monroe, The Fort Collins Coloradoan and The Clarion-Ledger in Jackson, Mississippi.

New Orleans

Derek Landrum and Natanael “Nate” Pabon-Trinidad have joined the staff of the Bureau of Governmental Research.

Landrum, business and operations manager, has a background in youth development and program management. He served as a 4-H agent with the LSU AgCenter for seven years, overseeing the youth development programs in Orleans and Plaquemines parishes.

He earned a bachelor’s in ecology and evolutionary biology from Tulane University and a master’s in agricultural and extension education from LSU.

Pabon-Trinidad, a research analyst, has had internships and assistantships with the Bureau of Governmental Research, LSU, PFM Group and the Louisiana Department of Health.

He earned bachelor’s in economics and political science and a master’s in public administration, all from LSU.

Kenneth St. Charles has been hired by the American Red Cross as regional chief executive for the Louisiana region.

St. Charles, a New Orleans native, will lead the organization in Louisiana, overseeing fundraising, disaster management and the organization’s vast network of volunteers.

He is the former president and CEO of St. Augustine High School and a retired Army officer.

He brings fundraising experience from his role at the Greater New Orleans Foundation, where he raised over $8 million in three months after Hurricane Ida.

St. Charles is a board member of the Bureau of Governmental Research, The Times-Picayune, the Pro Bono Publico Foundation and the DePaul/Daughters of Charity New Orleans Foundation.

He earned a bachelor’s in business administration from Loyola University New Orleans, a master’s in business administration and a doctorate in educational administration, both from the University of New Orleans. St. Charles deployed to Kuwait during Operation Desert Storm in 2003 and retired as a lieutenant colonel after 30 years of active service.
