Foreign Currency Smuggling: Forex Worth ₹81l In Mixer Grinder Pack | Kolkata News


Kolkata: Two Bangladeshi nationals were arrested with unaccounted foreign currency valued at approximately Rs 81.92 lakh by BSF from Maitree Express running between Kolkata and Dhaka on Thursday. The foreign currency was being smuggled inside a sealed mixer grinder pack. BSF personnel from Gede conducted a special search operation in coordination with RPF and arrested the men.During interrogation, Shankar Kumar Dutta and Walid Mehedi Rashal revealed they had arrived in India on April 21 via Gede land customs station and stayed at a hotel in Mukundapur. Therea Bangladeshi nationals, Subal Chandra Shil, gave them a mixer grinder to deliver to Bangladesh for a payment of Rs 10,000 each. The seized currency included US Dollars ($93,000), Australian Dollars (A$700), Euros (1,890), New Zealand Dollars (NZ$200), UAE Dirhams (AED2,500), Saudi Riyals (SAR7,900), and Bangladeshi Taka (Tk52,112). Officials said the hunt is on for Shil.
