Foreigner: Foreigner found carrying dollars worth ₹2.8 crore at IGI Airport | Delhi News

NEW DELHI: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel on Sunday recovered foreign currency, worth approximately Rs 2.8 crore, at IGI Airport from a Korean national.

Officials stated that CISF surveillance and intelligence staff at Terminal-3, noticed suspicious activities of a passenger at check-in area at 12.50am.

“The passenger was later identified as Jung Joong Choi, (Korean national) who was bound to travel from Delhi to Bangkok by Thai Airways. On checking of his baggage through X-BIS machine, some doubtful image was noticed,” said a CISF statement.

It added that the passenger was allowed to complete the check-in formalities and was kept under close watch through physical and electronic measures. After clearing the check-in process and immigration formalities, the passenger was intercepted by CISF staff and brought to departure Customs office. On thorough checking, in the presence of custom officials, $3,39,000 (worth approximately Rs 2.8 crore) were found concealed inside his check-in-baggage.


“On enquiry, he could not produce valid documents to carry such huge amount of foreign currency. The passenger along with the detected $3,39,000 was handed over to Custom officials,” added the statement.
