Hyderabad: Customs officials at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) caught a male passenger on charges of smuggling foreign currency, Saudi Arabian Riyals and US Dollars, altogether worth nearly Rs 22 lakh on Tuesday.
The passenger identified as Amir Ahmed from Hyderabad was scheduled to travel to Dubai. He had concealed the foreign currency in his luggage.
As per available information, the airport authorities found his movements suspicious and detained him. Further, on checking the luggage, the foreign currency was recovered and seized.
Customs officials said further investigation was on.
